Models and Representations in Science

Hans-Peter Grosshans, Éditeur

This is the third volume of the book series Comptes Rendus de l'Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences whose volumes are freely available online. It contains papers presented at the AIPS conference held in September 2023 in Münster, Germany.

Models have been very present in recent years in the sciences and in the public, be it in the Covid-19 pandemic or be it in climate change discourses. How can their relationship to what they represent and make conceivable be described? The papers in this volume discuss this basic question in the philosophy of science and present the understanding, the function and the use of models in various academic disciplines.
