About us

College Publications has been established by Dov Gabbay and Jane Spurr to be run by academics for academics and to serve the academic community with several objectives in mind:

  • To bring College Publications to a level with Oxford (OUP) and Cambridge (CUP) in terms of publishing capability.
  • To provide the community with a non-profit making, highly prestigious publishing outlet that will break the monopoly that commercial publishers have.
  • To publish books that can be purchased at reasonable prices, making information accessible to all.

  • Accordingly, College Publications can publish books at a range of 15–25 dollars per average 300 page book, giving substantially better royalties to authors than other publishers.

College Publications is run by Dov M. Gabbay, as scientific director and Mrs Spurr as managing director. This is an experienced team, having published many books, Handbooks and Journals over the past 20 years with all the major academic publishers, such as Elsevier, Springer, OUP, CUP, Wiley, Blackwell, Academic Press, Addison-Wesley, CSLI Publications, and World Scientific.

College Publications does not take copyright and authors are free to use their material elsewhere, and even to put the book on the web once sales have achieved profitability.

We believe that as the community realises the opportunities offered by the College Publications, it will emerge as a major alternative to expensive market-driven commercial publishers.

Academics no longer need to be controlled by commercial interests!

To contact College Publications, please write to Managing Director, Jane Spurr.
